Thyroid Carcinoma- Solitary Nodule
This is an anterior Nuclear Medicine Scan of thyroid gland in a young woman with a left sided palpable neck mass. Note how there is no uptake of radioisotope in the left upper lobe of the gland. This is the same region of the palpable mass.
This longitudinal image from an Ultrasound demonstrates a well defined solid lesion in the same area as the photopenic defect on the nuclear medicine scan. This lesion was resected and proved to be well differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
