COM Program Information

FACTS IN BRIEF

The Michigan State University (MSU) Osteopathic Residency Program in Diagnostic Radiology is a consortium comprised of four (4) teaching hospitals and the MSU Department of Radiology under the auspices of the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. The four-year residency program is fully accredited by the American Osteopathic College of Radiology and the American Osteopathic Association.

The following community based hospitals provide the majority of clinical training and participate in the AOA/AOCR internship radiology match program:

Detroit Division:

Henry Ford Bi-County Hospital in Warren
Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte

Pontiac Division:

Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac

Garden City Division:

Garden City Hospital in Garden City

Nearly all of the associated faculty are board-certified and hold clinical faculty appointments with the University. Residents are also eligible for academic appointments as Resident Instructors

The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training in all phases of diagnostic radiology. Sub-specialty rotations in Pediatrics, Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine are obtained through affiliated institutions. In addition, 6 weeks are spent at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C.

A weekly day long educational conference, and three months of on-site training take place on the MSU Campus in East Lansing. An active Visiting Professor program provides additional teaching and an opportunity to meet with many distinguished faculty from nationally prominent institutions. The American College of Radiology Teaching film file is also available for resident use at MSU in addition to each community. An overview of rotation sequences and a sample schedule for the weekly conferences at MSU are provided on the reverse side of this brochure.
